CASSAVA PIECE WAS IN FAVOUR FOR THE GERMAN TEAM DURING THE WORLD CUP
During this year’s football World Cup our friends at the Gullyside represented for Germany.
But watching football was not what our representatives were doing during the last weeks….
PROGRESS IN CASSAVA PIECE - ESTABLISHMENT OF OUR 'CARETAKER HOUSE'
While we were still waiting on a decision by the German Embassy for a decision on our application for financial support to our efforts to renovate the building and turn it into an Education Center, we started to build a ‘house’ for our caretaker person in one corner of the compound. With the help of some friends and people from the community the wooden shag on a concrete foundation was established in just four days!
Shortly after the new building structure was erected ,we received an email from the Embassy with even better news….
THE GERMAN EMBASSY IS GIVING FINANCIAL SUPPORT AMOUNTING TO 1.2 MILLION JA DOLLAR OR 10.400,- EUR (!)
Our application for financial support from the German Embassy in Kingston was generously granted – the Embassy supports HELP Jamaica! with a donation of 10.400,- EUR (1,2 Million JA Dollar). The money will be used to renovate the building we will use to establish the Education Center in Cassava Piece.
We from HELP Jamaica! would like to express our gratitude for the great support! With this decision being made – we can now finally start with the reconstruction of the building itself! We wish to thank the embassy and we are looking forward to fruitful cooperation!
We will keep you updated about the building process and are confident that we will be able to open the Education Center in the course of 2010!

After the successful staging of the 25th ‘Summer Jam’ in Cologne, Germany (Europe’s biggest reggae festival!) the promoter donated 1.500,-€. HELP Jamaica! was present at the festival with an info booth and got featured inside the festival magazine. The HELP Jamaica! team would like to thank the ‘Summer Jam’ Festival for the support.
The Reggae Jam Festival in Bersenbrück, Germany was voted ‘Best Festival of Year’ twice in the last two years by the RIDDIM Magazin readers. It’s a festival ‘full a vibes’ in a small town in Germany’s country side which invites ten-thousand reggae fans each year to come and celebrate a memorable weekend in a more than welcoming and friendly atmosphere – a family ‘ting! The promoter known as ‘Sheriff’ is supporting HELP Jamaica! from long time, for 2010 he warranted a covenant donation of 5.000,- €(!) right after this year’s festival. Of course HELP Jamaica! will be on the ground with a info-booth to spread the information about our aims and goals, to link some artists and as well to soak in some good festival vibes and hopefully stunning performances by artists like: Mavado, John Holt, Morgan Heritage, Steel Pulse, U Roy, Lukie D, Lutan Fyah or Toots and the Maytals…. Additionally we will try to shoot a little image-video for HELP Jamaica! (Big up to Nippes Yard for their support!) so if you will be at ‘Reggae Jam’, please come by and visit us at our yellow info-booth.
SUPERSONIC & HERBALIZE-IT SOUND ARE SUPPORTING HELP JAMAICA! Thats not news? Yes, you're right both sounds support us from longtime, but this year they came up with a new idea of support!
