FASHION EVOLUTION BY SPOKES FASHION EVOLUTION BY SPOKES

FASHION EVOLUTION BY SPOKESEvery decade there is a new hot designer in local Jamaican fashion and SPOKES the team led by Dexter Huxtable has lived to this tradition, the designs tailored to fit the man with class and that attitude to turn heads when walking through a room is who SPOKES is made for, these designs evoke the sophistication to meet or surpass the female counterpart at any event or function.

The Spokes Apparel though not new as a designer has seen vast improvements in mid 2009 up to Style Week Jamaica 2010 that has given the designer Huxtable more attention to his creations. During the recently staged Style Week the designs of SPOKES were among one of the highly anticipated collections for the week and they did not disappoint the eager eyes. From great model selections for the perfect fit the Dexter Huxtable led team proved to be a mens wear designer to be reckoned with.

Spokes Apparel is described by the designer as a fusion of unique Jamaican flair and classic European finish. He was quick to point out that Spokes is a family oriented clothing company that was launched in 2006 and since its launch the family business have gotten major attention from fast rising recording artiste Protoje as well as other male artiste like DJ Nicholas of the gospel community and many more local celebrities have gravitated towards the Spokes Apparel clothing line.

JAMAICA FASHION SEASON

Written by Kemar Daswell 'The New Guru'

JAMAICA FASHION SEASONThe wheels of the machines have stopped spinning and the catwalks are down models off to their different international castings and the model agencies counting the earnings and losses. The official fashion season for Jamaica has ended with the staging of Saint Internationals Fashion Block held weeks ago in New Kingston. So as the dust settles and the designers market the designs for sale the question is raised: who staged a better production?

Caribbean Fashion Week(CFW) hosted by Pulse was held this year at the National Indoor Sports Center as they always do giving the opportunity for small designers to showcase designs or samples of work by displaying booths as well as for sponsors to brand at the event. This strategy allowed for the consumer and the designers to bond closer during the short breaks and before and after the show. Making for some lasting contacts and business partnerships to be made. Kingsly Cooper and his team with the 10th anniversary staging of Caribbean Fashion Week 2010 did fall in some parts however they must be firstly commended on fostering the business aspect of fashion.

Caribbean Fashion Week held over a total of three days with the exception of the workshops and business functions was a fashion week that as one entered each setting saw the level of preparation from the high level of respect to the members of the press to patrons the CFW team displayed superior organizational qualities. The models at CFW also displayed a high professional behavior and proper ethics while going about their business. The production team led by international fashion producer Richard Moody must also be commended for a timely show though with late starts they started with a 'bang'.
