WHANDAH the DAINTY QUEEN
Style, intelligence, creativity, humor, and charm are just a few qualities that describe this forthcoming artist. Add a splash of sex appeal along with a large measure of talent; you've just defined the magnetism of Carleen Newsome, a.k.a "Whandah." Born in Manchester, Jamaica, Whandah migrated to the U.S. at age 11.
As a young woman, Whandah was impressively ambitious.Focused on establishing herself as a reputable artist, she voiced her first recording songs for Barry of Agony Sound System called “Aids a Badda Wi” and “Heart Breaka.” She later voiced “Grandpa Daddy” for the Jah Life recording label. Throughout the 90’s, she focused on honing her song writing ability, as well as improving her skills as an entertainer.
In 2003, she landed a position as one of the hosts on the radio show “Everything Caribbean.” In 2004 she moved on to host her own radio show “Mix Vibes” until 2005. Whandah is set to release the following singles from her upcoming debut album, “Detox Dem,” “I'm in Love,” and a song she dedicated to her son, “You're my Heart.”
The stylish Dainty-Reggae recording artist Whandah, is also scheduled to host the new online television show, UMV (Underground Music Videos) featuring music video’s of up-and- coming recording artists. Produced and written by Victor M. Caraveo of Caraveo Media, the online show will give independent recording artists an opportunity to showcase their videos, live interviews and freestyles. The show will be launched on Caraveo media’s official website: www.caraveomedia.com/otv in spring of 2010.
Whandah’s life experience has surely shaped her perspective of her career. Her motto, “I am a dreamer that believes the race is not for the swift but for those that can endure it,” reflects her commitment to her craft. Whandah has this to say to all of her current fans and the fans to come, “Think big, Become successful and always do your best.”
