LADY LEE

Lady Lee is a top class reggae artist, and is known as the first lady of reggae in Boston. As a versatile performer, she captivates her audience with melodies blended from the original reggae dancehall styles to the new and up to date sounds, whether its on a reggae roots, hip hop or reggae dancehall rhythm. She keeps her lyrics conscious with social messages of teaching, paying respects to her African heritage and at the same time, keeping her world perspective, with her true belief of one world, one people, one love. If you happen to catch her on a night when it's a freestyle session, she is not to be missed. She started out chanting and singing on strictly dancehall riddims with her powerful strong voice and lyrical intellect, she quickly became the artist by which the standard was set. Lady Lee is also the premier DJ/selector for Mega Roots Energy Sound. Her DJ skills transferred to radio in 2004 and she has a live show, THE LIONS DEN, every Sunday from 7-9 pm in Boston, live at www.105vibe.com. She has also produced music for artists in Boston, including Silva Duss and Jah Bless. She is a writer, and penned all of the songs she performs, including those for her upcoming album and lends her writing skills to other reggae artists and singers, under the brand name MEGA ROOTS PRODUCTIONS.
Born on the island of Barbados, she moved to Boston as a child, where, while in high school, she was discovered when she jumped in at a freestyle session in reggae event in Boston by Ras Colie, with whom she recorded several songs, including "Over and Over Again" and "Bad Gyal", and it was her debut hit single "False Pretender" that became an instant classic, as it was done as a playful female response to Shabba Ranks and Maxi Priest's international hit song "Housecall". She followed up with hits after hits, including "Situation" which was remixed on Madizm beat by DJ Excel, followed up with "Pon De Circuit" on the classic The Bridge Is Over beat which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it instantly threw Lady Lee into the hiphop/reggae crossover charts and performance circuit. Lady Lee had by this time acquired a huge reggae fan base, and with this newfound hip-hop world, she continued working with her manager at the time, Robin Walther from WZBC's The Dynamic Duo in Boston, along with the world renowned International DJ Excel and the team of engineers at Underground Studio in Needham, Massachusetts and created several more classics like "Some DJ's", "We Love It", "So Lonely" and "Gangsta Meets Culture" with her brother Ernie Lee.
Lady Lee travels all over the world and has performed in Jamaica, Puerto Rico (2009), London, Barbados, and all over the USA, especially along the east coast, mainly Boston, New York, Vermont, Connecticut and Florida, and has made show stops in North Carolina and Virginia.
She has won DJ/Artist of the Year in Boston several years in a row at the Boston Reggae Music Awards, as well as Female Artist of the Year, and was also nominated for Top Female of the Year for the Tameka Awards in New York. In December, 2009, Lady Lee was chosen as one of the premier female selectors to spin at the Royal Soundwomen Roadblock, Part II session in Brooklyn, NY at Culture Barn. For 2010, she's already booked for several events, and scheduled the release of a vocal album in Spring/Early Summer, 2010.
Her much anticipated album, REVOLUTION TIME, will include the singles DayDreaming, Rough Life, Revolution Time, Chosen One, Give Jah Praises and the very popular track "Struggle". She records year-round and is working with several producers, including International DJ Excel from Boston/New York, Dub Easy in California, Radar Sounds in Barbados, Acoustic Vibes in Jamaica and Mo'Times Productions in Trinidad. She lends her voice to many genres of music and has done collaborations with various artists, mainly Hip Hop artist Letia LeRock, Scape and Castafari (reggae & hip hop), reggae artists, including Classic K (who wrote the original version of So Lonely) and Ernie Lee, R&B vocalist Hazeleyez and the Jazz artist Gretchen Elise for the title track of her album "Are You Ready".
